Baxi E13 fault code explained — Incredaboil guide

If your Baxi boiler is showing E13, Baxi’s current error-code reference describes it as a differential water-flow switch fault, with the switch still closed on the covered models.

This is model-specific. Baxi has several code systems, so confirm the exact boiler name and full display before relying on an online explanation.

What does Baxi E13 mean?

The boiler expects its differential water-flow switch to change state as operating conditions change. E13 means the control still sees the switch as closed when it expects a different response.

The code does not prove whether the switch, circulation, pressure, wiring or another control issue is responsible. An engineer must test the appliance using the correct manufacturer instructions.

Which Baxi boilers use E13?

Baxi lists E13 in the group covering specified Platinum Compact, Duo-tec Compact, Megaflo Compact, 600, 800, Assure, Platinum, Duo-tec, Megaflo and EcoBlue combi or system models. Newer Combi 2 and System 2 appliances may use dotted codes instead.

Write down the model name and photograph any alternating symbols or numbers.

Safe checks before booking a repair

  • Check the pressure externally. Compare the gauge with the range in your model’s user guide.
  • Check the thermostat and programmer. Make sure the boiler has a genuine demand.
  • Look for an obvious external leak. Do not remove covers.
  • Note recent work. Mention radiator bleeding, pressure changes or heating-system work.
  • Use one reset only if the exact user guide permits it. Stop if E13 returns.

Do not open the casing, operate the internal switch, touch wiring or try to free the pump.

Is E13 a low-pressure fault?

Baxi defines E13 as the differential water-flow switch remaining closed, not simply as low pressure. Pressure and circulation may form part of the engineer’s checks, but topping up will not repair a faulty switch or electrical circuit.

If pressure repeatedly falls, report that separately rather than continuing to add water.

Can you keep resetting it?

No. A single permitted reset may clear a temporary interruption. A returning code means the expected switch response is still wrong and needs professional attention.

If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide, see scorching or have an alarm sounding, stop normal checks and follow Gas Safe Register emergency guidance.

What will the engineer check?

The engineer will verify the model, review the fault history and test pressure, circulation and the flow-switch circuit in accordance with Baxi instructions. The measured cause determines the repair; the code alone is not a parts list.

Quick answer

Baxi E13 means the differential water-flow switch has remained closed on the models covered by the manufacturer’s current reference. Make only safe external checks and arrange a repair if one permitted reset does not clear it.
