Baxi H.02.02 code: waiting for configuration settings — Incredaboil guide

If your Baxi boiler shows H.02.02, Baxi’s official description is: “Waiting for configuration settings to be entered (CN1, CN2).” The boiler’s control system is waiting for technical configuration information before normal operation can continue.

CN1 and CN2 are manufacturer terms shown in the official code description. They are not ordinary homeowner controls. Do not enter service menus, copy settings from another boiler or open the casing. Record the code and arrange professional help if it remains.

What does Baxi H.02.02 mean?

A boiler needs the correct technical configuration for its model and installed control system. H.02.02 indicates that the boiler is waiting for the configuration settings identified by Baxi as CN1 and CN2.

The code explains the state detected by the appliance, but it does not give a safe homeowner procedure for entering those settings. Configuration work affects how the boiler operates and must be completed with the correct manufacturer information by a competent engineer.

Which boilers can show H.02.02?

Baxi lists H.02.02 in its Combi & System 2 error-code group. That group covers the Baxi 200, 400, 600 and 800 Combi 2, Baxi Assure 500 Combi 2, Baxi 600 and 800 System 2, and Baxi Assure 500 System 2.

Always confirm the model name from the outside of the appliance and use the matching Baxi user guide. Technical settings are model-specific, so values or sequences from a similar-looking boiler must not be used.

What are CN1 and CN2?

Baxi’s public code table names CN1 and CN2 as the configuration settings the boiler is waiting for. For a homeowner, the important point is that these are technical commissioning or control settings rather than the normal heating schedule, room temperature or hot-water temperature.

Do not guess what values belong there or search for a universal setting. The correct information depends on the appliance and must be established through Baxi’s technical documentation. Entering incorrect settings could lead to further codes or incorrect operation.

Why might H.02.02 appear?

The code may appear when the boiler cannot proceed without required configuration information, but the public description does not identify one universal cause. It would be unsafe to declare that a particular board, connector or memory component has failed based on H.02.02 alone.

It is useful to note whether the message followed installation, commissioning, servicing, a component change or a power interruption. Share that history with the engineer rather than attempting to alter the boiler yourself.

Safe checks before arranging repair

  • Write the code exactly as H.02.02.
  • Confirm the boiler model using information on the outside of the appliance.
  • Note whether heating, hot water or both are unavailable.
  • Record any code that appeared immediately before or after H.02.02.
  • Check ordinary user controls are on their normal settings.
  • Note any recent installation, service, repair or power interruption.

Do not remove the casing, inspect CN1 or CN2 locations, move connectors, test wiring or voltages, change parameters, perform a factory reset, replace the PCB or enter installer menus. These are not homeowner troubleshooting steps.

Should you reset H.02.02?

Reset methods vary between Baxi models. If the exact user guide tells you to use a homeowner reset for this situation, follow the instruction once. If the boiler continues waiting for configuration or the code returns, do not repeat resets.

Baxi advises that recurring lockout indicates a fault and an installer or service engineer should be contacted. A reset cannot safely supply missing configuration settings.

H.02.02 compared with H.02.03

These codes look similar but have different wording. H.02.02 means the boiler is waiting for configuration settings to be entered. H.02.03 means the CN1 and CN2 configuration settings were not entered correctly.

Copy the exact code from the display. An engineer needs to know whether the boiler is waiting for information or reporting that the information is incorrect.

Can the boiler be used?

Follow the instructions for the exact model and do not force operation. If the boiler is waiting for configuration, normal heating or hot water may not be available. Leave technical settings untouched and arrange repair.

If the boiler behaves unusually or another safety warning appears, switch it off with the normal user control where safe. If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide or an alarm sounds, follow emergency guidance immediately rather than continuing ordinary checks.

What will an engineer check?

An engineer will verify the model and code, review recent work, and use the correct Baxi technical information to assess the required configuration and electronic controls. The aim is to restore the correct model-specific settings without guesswork.

Tell the engineer when the code began and whether work or a power interruption preceded it. That history can help while keeping you safely outside the appliance.
