Ideal C0 fault code explained — Incredaboil guide

The Ideal C0 fault code means BCC activation fault. That is the exact description in Ideal’s current homeowner fault-code guidance.

BCC is part of the boiler’s internal control configuration. C0 is therefore not a low-pressure, gas-supply or thermostat code, and it is not suitable for homeowner repair.

What does Ideal C0 mean?

Ideal lists a flashing C and 0 as “BCC Activation Fault”. The manufacturer advises resetting the boiler and, if that does not clear the problem, contacting Ideal while under warranty or arranging an engineer visit.

The code describes a configuration or activation problem within the control system. It does not prove that one particular board or chip must be replaced.

Which Ideal boilers use C0?

Ideal’s current consumer fault-code page publishes C0 for boilers and controls that use the BCC code system, but it does not provide a complete model list beside that entry. Apply this explanation only where the exact Ideal boiler or its own user guide displays C0 as BCC activation fault.

Do not transfer the meaning to a different Ideal range merely because it shows two characters. The model guide is the authority.

Can I reset C0?

Ideal says to reset the boiler. Follow the reset procedure in the exact model’s user guide and do it once. If C0 remains or returns, stop resetting and arrange support.

Do not repeatedly cycle the boiler’s power or try menu combinations found for another model. Configuration work requires the correct manufacturer information.

Safe information to collect

  • Photograph the closed boiler and C0 display.
  • Find the exact model and serial number from accessible documents or labels.
  • Record any recent service, PCB work or power interruption.
  • Note whether heating, hot water or both are unavailable.
  • Check whether the boiler remains under Ideal warranty.

Do not remove the casing, touch the PCB or BCC components, move links, reconnect plugs or attempt to programme the boiler.

Is C0 the same as C2?

No. Ideal’s current FAQ describes C0 as BCC activation fault and C2 as BCC chip. They are related to the control/configuration system but are separate displayed faults.

Is C0 caused by low pressure?

No. Ideal uses F1 for low pressure on the control family described in its FAQ. Adding water will not correct a BCC activation fault unless a separate low-pressure condition also exists.

What will an engineer do?

The engineer will identify the model, check the exact technical documentation and assess the boiler’s control configuration safely. The diagnosis may depend on whether previous control work has occurred and on the appliance’s stored configuration.

Because manufacturer configuration procedures are model-specific, an online parts list or programming sequence would be unsafe and unreliable.

Is C0 dangerous?

C0 is a protective control fault, not proof of a gas leak. Do not bypass it or force the boiler to run.

If you smell gas, see scorching, have water reaching electrics or a carbon-monoxide alarm sounds, leave the property and use the emergency route. Call 0800 111 999 for suspected gas leaks.

The short answer

Ideal C0 means BCC activation fault. Confirm the meaning in the exact model guide, reset once as Ideal advises, and arrange qualified support if the code remains.
